Bowness Tour is on Thursday!  Please make sure you bring your completed forms and $5 fee (to cover bussing costs).  We will leave the school at around 9am and return to TMC at lunch.  Bowness will provide a snack for us, but you will still need to bring a lunch to school that day.

Government Analogy task is due on Monday, January 21.  Lots of creative ideas are being developed!

We will have a short check-in/quiz on the government topic on Friday, January 18.  It will be multiple choice and fill-in the blank format.  It will focus on the three branches of the Federal Government, the function/role of each part and also the Bill to Law legislative process.

Wednesday, January 9, 2019

Government Analogy: Students continue to firm up their plans for the Federal Government Analogy task.  When you have decided what you want to compare the structure of government to (for example, a bicycle or the human body), please have your plan initialed by Ms. Cavallin to receive feedback.  This plan should be firmed up by the end of class today (Wednesday). A reminder that this task is shared with you in Google Drive if you have misplaced your printed copy.

Cabinet Comparison: Please make sure you have recorded your observations comparing Stephen Harper's 2007 Cabinet to the current Cabinet in place under Justin Trudeau.  You should record your observations about:

  1. the names/types of portfolios in each Cabinet
  2. regions of Canada represented by Cabinet ministers
  3. male/female ratio of Cabinet ministers
What do you notice about each of the above?  What does it tell us about the priorities of the Harper gov't compared to those of the Trudeau gov't?  If you were PM what Cabinet position
would you add?  We will discuss this in class on Thursday.

March 9-13
